Summer is peak season for festivals, concerts, events and temporary installations. As sites quickly fill up with stages, technical equipment, containers and materials, the same challenge appears time and time again:
There is not enough space on the ground.
Sound systems, lighting, cables, generators, materials and technical equipment all require valuable space. At the same time, the area must remain safe, functional and easy to navigate.
A galvanised platform mounted on top of a container can provide valuable additional square metres without increasing the footprint on the ground.
When Space Is Limited at Festivals and Events
Many festivals and summer events already use containers as storage units, backstage facilities, technical rooms or bars.
By utilising the space above the container, an additional level can be created for a variety of purposes:
- Platform for speakers and audio equipment
- Mounting of lighting towers and technical installations
- Temporary viewing platforms
- Small stages for events and performances
- VIP and audience areas
- Camera positions for event coverage
The result is better use of available space and fewer installations placed directly on the ground.

More Than Just a Festival Platform
While summer events are an obvious application, these platforms are designed for much more than festivals.
Many companies use them as a practical solution whenever additional workspace or storage capacity is required.
Typical applications include:
Construction Sites
On construction sites, the platform can be used as:
- Additional storage space
- Temporary work areas
- Storage of larger materials
- Elevated storage of equipment and tools

Ports and Terminals
In logistics environments, the platforms are commonly used for:
- Temporary storage
- Handling of oversized items
- Improved use of limited space
- Transport of specialised equipment
Offshore and Maritime Projects
Space is often a limited resource on offshore installations and maritime projects.
Here, the platforms are used as:
- Working platforms
- Service areas
- Technical installation platforms
- Terrace and recreational areas on container modules

Why Choose a Galvanised Platform?
The platforms are hot-dip galvanised, providing a durable surface with excellent resistance to corrosion.
Key benefits include:
- Long service life
- Suitable for outdoor environments
- Robust construction
- Efficient use of existing container space
- Can be moved together with the container
When every square metre matters, utilising the space above a container can often be more cost-effective than expanding the available ground area.
Three Models for Different Requirements
Specialcontainer offers several platform configurations:
20′ Galvanised Container Top Platform Without Floor
An open design that is ideal for larger items and technical equipment.
20′ Galvanised Container Top Platform With Floor
Creates a complete additional deck above the container and can be used for both storage and working areas.
40′ Galvanised Container Top Platform With Floor
Suitable for larger installations where maximum platform area is required.
When Your Container Needs to Do More
Containers are no longer used solely for storage. Today they serve as offices, workshops, technical rooms, warehouses and temporary buildings.
By adding a galvanised platform on top, the full potential of the container can be utilised while freeing up valuable ground space for other purposes.
Whether used for festivals, construction sites, ports or offshore projects, a container top platform offers a simple and effective way to create additional space without expanding the footprint of the site.
FAQ
Can the platform be mounted on all containers?
The platforms are designed for standard ISO containers and are mounted using the container corner castings. Please contact us if you are unsure whether the platform is compatible with your container.
Can the platform be used for purposes other than storage?
Yes. The platform is commonly used as a working platform, service area, terrace, viewing platform for events, and as a base for technical equipment, lighting and sound systems.
Can the platform be mounted higher above the container?
Yes. If additional clearance is required between the container and the platform, the solution can be combined with a 210 mm Height Extension or a Twistlock Intermediate Standard. This creates extra space for cables, pipes, ventilation systems and technical installations while providing greater flexibility for specialised projects and temporary structures.
