How do you choose the right lashing point for your cargo?
When heavy cargo or containers need to be secured to a steel deck, floor or another steel structure, a stable and correctly rated lashing point is essential.
The right solution depends not only on the expected load. You should also consider where the D-ring will be installed and whether the lashing point needs to be permanent or removable when it is no longer required.

Weld-on D-rings for permanent lashing points
When the lashing point needs to be permanently integrated into the structure, a weld-on D-ring provides a simple and robust solution.
The bracket is welded directly onto a steel deck, frame or another steel structure. The D-ring can then be used to secure cargo with chains or lashing straps.
We offer weld-on D-rings in three sizes:
- D-ring 15 tonnes – for less demanding lashing applications, with a BL of 150 kN
- D-ring 36 tonnes – a stronger solution with a BL of 360 kN
- D-ring 50 tonnes – for heavy cargo, with a BL of 490 kN
The different sizes allow you to select a D-ring that matches the expected load without unnecessarily oversizing the solution.
Removable D-ring for the Breech Base system
If the steel deck is already fitted with Breech Base deck sockets, a Breech Base D-ring MBL 40 tonnes can be installed directly in the socket.
The D-ring is easy to install and remove and can be loaded from all four directions. It locks securely in the deck socket, preventing it from coming loose during use.
Its compact design also makes it suitable for areas where space is limited.
The Breech Base D-ring has:
- SWL 200 kN
- PL 250 kN
- BL 400 kN
Once the D-ring has been removed, the deck can be used for other tasks without a permanent lashing point protruding from the surface.
D-ring for a 55° dovetail foundation
A D-ring for a 55° twistlock foundation is a removable lashing point that locks into a 55° dovetail foundation.
This solution is suitable when the lashing point only needs to be installed when required and removed afterwards, allowing the deck to be used for other purposes.

- BL 353 kN

D-ring for a container corner casting
When cargo needs to be secured directly to a container without installing an additional welded lashing point, a D-ring for a corner casting can be fitted directly into the ISO opening.
The D-ring locks securely into the corner casting, creating a stable and removable lashing point. It can be removed after use without making any permanent modifications to the container.
