It is no secret that we, here at\u00a0Specialcontainer.dk<\/a>, like the color blue and especially on our containers. But whether you like blue, red, yellow, green or a different color container is really up to you. Still, for you the most important thing about painting is not the color but that the containers’ paint can protect against damages from the impact, which it is exposed to when in use. That the paint protection is of a good standard, which is intended for offshore use, so that no cracks appear. Because without paint, the steel container will naturally begin to corrode. So it may well be that blue is lovely and beautiful, but it must protect the container all year around.<\/p>\n

What paint system is needed?<\/strong><\/p>\n

This is actually a good question. Because DNV has only defined that the paint system has to be an offshore standard type. This means that companies can loosely choose what seems suitable. Most companies use a standard solution from their suppliers, but since many containers are made in China, you can not expect that the paint is suited to the needs of a North Sea operation. Here at Specialcontainer.dk we use a proven Hempel system, which both protects against the corrosive forces of he North, but which is also applied in an appropriate amount – neither too thick nor too thin – so that it is impact resistant. Our goal with the paint system is to extend the container’s life as much as possible.<\/span><\/p>\n

Several of our customers have asked about our position on Hempel Norsok standard M-501 paint systems. Here we can only say that after advice from both factories and from Hempel, we do not choose such because they are simply too thick to apply on thin container panels.<\/span><\/p>\n

Right now, we have containers on the way to Denmark. As per general demand, we have among others a brand new 20\u2019 model on the way. So in mid March, we will have 4 new 10′ offshore containers and 2 of the much sought after 20′ with access points at each end, in stock.\u00a0And all our containers might be blue, but they have a polyurethane top coat. This makes it easier to re-paint the container, if you would like your container in a different color.<\/p>\n
